Yesterday I had to fix an old Toshiba Equium laptop, that didn’t recognize its wireless NIC.
It was an Askey AR5BMB5 miniPCI card, based on AR2413A chipset.
You can download the correct driver here, under “Atheros” section:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads
Download mirror:
OS | Driver version | Download link |
Windows XP (32bit) | 9.2.0.419.0 | atheros-wlan-xp-9204190.zip |
Windows Vista (32/64bit) | 7.7.0.288.0 | atheros-wlan-vista-7702880.zip |
Windows 7 (32/64bit) | 9.2.0.419.0 | atheros-wlan-win7-9204190.zip |
Once installed, it shows up in device manager as “Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network Adapter”.
I had problems connecting to WPA2 protected networks, probably due to unsupported AES encryption.
Setting your router wireless security to “WPA/WPA2” and “TKIP+AES” should solve the issue.
